Celebrates over 30 years of Accomplishments in Indianapolis, Indiana
The Year 2006
Dr. Shekar Narayanan performed the first successful
Robotically Assisted colon operation in Indiana on June 26, 2006 at Community
Hospital North. The surgery was performed using four small incisions and the
patient was released to home on the third post-operative day.
Dr Muller performed what is believed to be the first TEM (transanal endoscopic
microsurgery) in Indiana. TEM is a minimally invasive colorectal surgery that
does not involve any incisions on the outside of the body. The purpose is to remove early cancers and
pre-cancerous growths located deep inside the rectum or lower colon.

Dr Gowdamarajan and Dr Muller provided several
presentations on the “Diagnosis and Treatment of Anorectal Problems for nurse
practitioners at the annual Indiana Nurse Practitioner Meeting.
The Year 2005
Dr Jager and Dr Narayanan were named “Top Docs”
in the Indianapolis Monthly magazine.
The physicians of Colon and Rectal Care
Center, in conjunction with physicians from two oncology groups, sponsored a
seminar entitled "Colon Cancer 2005, Current Diagnosis and Treatment" for
primary care providers.

The Colon and Rectal Care Center, Dr Jager, Dr Narayanan, Dr
Muller and Dr Gowdamarajan, hosted a seminar for primary care physicians on the
latest advances in minimally invasive surgery on March 23, 2005.
The Colon and Rectal Care Center, Dr Jager, Dr Narayanan, Dr Muller and Dr
Gowdamarajan, will host the third annual seminar entitled “The Diagnosis and
Treatment of Colorectal Problems For Primary Care” on February 12, 2005 at the
Marriott East Convention Center, Indianapolis.
The Year 2004
Published the 2nd edition of “Hemorrhoids, A Book for Silent Suffers”.
Conducted the second annual seminar – The Diagnosis and Treatment of Anorectal Problems for Primary Care.
Opening of satellite office on the east side of Indianapolis at 1539 North Post Road by July of 2004.
Dr Muller and Dr Gowdamarajan join Colon and Rectal Care on September 1.
The Year 2003
First stapled hemorrhoidectomy performed at Community Hospital North by Dr Narayanan.
Conducted the first annual seminar – The Diagnosis and Treatment of Anorectal Problems for Primary Care.
First artificial sphincter implantation in central Indiana performed by Dr Narayanan.
Opened a satellite office in Noblesville, Indiana.
The Year 2002
Colon and Rectal Care is actively participating in the passage of S710/HR 1520 (The Eliminate Colorectal Cancer Act)
Doctor Shekar Narayanan joins Colon and Rectal Care.
Development of an Anorectal physiology Lab, including anorectal ultrasound, manometry and EMG.
Presenter at Tumor Board and Grand Rounds at local hospitals.
First laparoscopic colectomy performed at Riverview Hospital performed by Dr Narayanan and Dr Jager.
The Year 2001
Participated with the American Cancer Society and television channel 6 on the March Colon Cancer Awareness and Prevention Campaign.

Introduced laparoscopic continent appendicocecostomy procedure to treat colonic inertia
Set record number of more than 15,000 colonscopic procedures performed without a single incident of colonic injury

Published surgical textbook through Churchill Livingstone entitled: "Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery"
Developed web page for Colon and Rectal Care Center
Received national accreditation for Surgery Center Plus through AAAHC
